How often do we make decisions based off of colors?
Color is usually one of the first descriptors we use when making selections.
People pick their favorite sports teams based off of color. They decide on the car that they want to drive off the car lot based on color. Their shoes have to match with their outfit before they go out for a night on the town. In fact, over 90% of people are persuaded by the visual appearance of a brand’s marketing.
In business, colors are researched and chosen because they make sense. The colors used for your brand are the foundation of its visual appearance.
Has anyone ever asked you why you picked the colors of your business? If so, I hope you didn’t say because it is your business and you chose your favorite colors. Yes, your business, but I’m sure you built it in hopes of attracting consumers to your brand. The colors you select assist with the impression customers have about your brand. You have to be smart when you are thinking about the message that you are sending to your fans.
People often react with emotions more than thinking about the decision that needs to be made. Imagine the golden arches being the black arches. Not really a happy a feeling, right?
You want your followers to feel good about what you are offering to them. The colors of your brand must match its personality. If you really want to stand out, you must be different than your competitors.
The colors you choose will follow you and your brand everywhere. the colors of your brand will be the color of your logo, the links on your website, the colors of your uniforms, and a whole lot more.
This is why it is important to have consistency across all of your designs. Choose your colors wisely. Be sure to save the hex codes of your color palette to refer to when needed.
